Composition : Each 2ml contains
1. Metoclopramide Hydrochloride equivalent to
anhydrous Metoclopramide Hydrochloride 10 mg
Pharmacology : Metoclopramide
is a centrally acting dopamine antagonist and
acts on the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ).
It is a prokinetic; it causes forward propulsion
of the contents of the gastrointestinal tract
(GIT).
Indications : Clinically the
formulation is used for the following purposes
:
- Diabetic Gastroparesis (Diabetic Gastric
Stasis)
- The Prevention of Nausea and Vomiting Associated
with Emetogenic Cancer Chemotherapy
- The Prevention of Postoperative Nausea and
Vomiting
- Small Bowel Intubation
- Radiological Examination
- Acute Migraine
Dosage : Adults
– 10 mg IM or IV. Children may be given
a lower dose depending upon severity of symptoms
and body weight.
Contraindications : Metoclopramide
is contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal
bleeding, pheochromocytoma, epileptic patients
and hypersensitivity to the preparation.
Adverse Effects :
More common : Diarrhea; drowsiness ;
restlessness
Less common or rare : Breast
tenderness and swelling; changes in menstruation;
constipation; increased flow of breast milk; mental
depression; nausea; skin rash; trouble in sleeping;
unusual dryness of mouth; unusual irritability
Presentation : Pack of 10 ampoules.
Storage : Store at a temperature
upto 25oC.Keep out of the reach of
children.
