Agent
Composition : Each ml contains
1. Phenylephrine Hydrochloride USP 25 mg
2. Phenylephrine Hydrochloride USP 100 mg
Pharmacology : Phenylephrine Hydrochloride
is a sympathomimetic amine with a predominantly
direct alpha-adrenergic action. The drug stimulates
the radial muscles of the iris leading to mydriasis.
Since it has alpha adrenergic effects it also
causes vasoconstriction, hence helps clearing
red eyes.
Indications : Irifrin is used as a mydriatic
for
- diagnostic purposes
- preventing adhesions
- surgical procedures
and as a vasoconstrictor and decongestant for clearing
red inflamed eyes.
Contraindications : Should not be used in the
presence of severe hypertension, hyperthyroidism,
partial heart block, myocarditis, bradycardia or
serious impairment of the coronary circulation.
Dosage : Adults and children: to be used
as directed by the ophthalmologist.
Direction for use : If stronger mydriatic effect
is desired, then Irifrin should be used along
with Cyclomed.
Adverse Effects : May cause irritation on application
to the eye. Systemic effects, not normally seen,
are those of sympathetic stimulation i.e. peripheral
vasoconstriction and hypertension.
Presentation : 5 ml glass vial.
Storage : Store at room temperature upto 25oC.
Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children. |
