Category : Cycloplegic / Mydriatic Agent
Composition : Each ml contains
1. Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride USP 10 mg
Pharmacology : Cyclopentolate is an anticholinergic
agent, which paralyses the circular muscle of
the iris, thus causing papillary dilation, and
also paralyses the ciliary muscle, thus causing
paralysis of accommodation.
Indications : To induce cycloplegia
and mydriasis -
- For thorough examination of the retina and
the optic disc,
- In surgical procedures,
- In the therapy of iridocyclitis, choroiditis
and keratitis.
- For cycloplegia for refraction in young children
- For applenation tonometry
Dosage : Adults -
1 to 2 drops or as required. Children - 1
drop, or as required.
Contraindications : Cyclomed is not to
be used in patients with narrow angle glaucoma
or in patients with a narrow angle between the
iris and the cornea, since its use may increase
intraocular pressure. Cyclopentolate should not
be used in neonates except under expert evaluation,
or if the need is considered compelling.
Adverse Effects : Dryness of mouth and
photophobia.
Presentation : 5ml glass & plastic
vial.
Storage : Store at a temperature upto 25oC,
protected from light. Keep out of the reach of
children.
