Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility

We, at Promed, have always recognized our responsibility towards the community and the environment. It is inscribed in the way we do business and deeply rooted in our foundation. Reaching out to underserved communities is an essential part of our CSR philosophy. As a responsible corporate citizen, we consciously take steps to make available resources, time and effort to understand the challenges that under privileged communities face, and work towards making a meaningful change in their lives.

Our employees are always encouraged to actively participate in a variety of programs and initiatives that bring a change in the lives of people and communities in need. Currently, Promed is spending 1% of its net profit on CSR initiatives for the year 2010-11 and is committed to enhance it further over the years.

Our core focus areas include:

HEALTHCARE

Health is an important aspect of a happy life. To realize this, we conduct health camps, specialized eye camps, dental checkups, as well as blood donation camps for the needy and under privileged at regular intervels.

Eye Care: Regular eye check-up camps are an inseparable part of our healthcare initiatives. These camps are organized in the villages, in and around Delhi-NCR and Nalagarh to extend quality eye-care to the villagers.

Cancer Support: For last three years, we have been participating in ‘The WALK FOR LIFE’ – an annual event through which common people express their determination to fight the scourge of Cancer in our society by walking or running and making a donation to Can Support.

EDUCATION

We have been sponsoring the education of under privileged children at the Deepalaya Foundation, a premier NGO in Delhi, for over a decade now. We are providing scholarships to the meritorious students of schools around Nalagarh (HP).

We also support ‘Arushi-Shelter for Girls’ – a 24-hour full-care shelter for the girl child in Gurgaon, run by the Salaam Baalak Trust. We have devised a customized educational program ‘Ek Prayaas’, aimed at making girl children self-reliant. Our people volunteer to educate the children.

In Russia, we support the Korolev town school for visually impaired children by participating in various activities. Last year’s activities included developing a kitchen garden, taking children to the museum, and celebrating Christmas and New Year with children.

ENVIRONMENT

As a part of our ‘Go-Green’ drive, we undertake plantation drives on all relevant occasions such as the inauguration of our manufacturing facility, Women’s Day, Environment Day, etc. In Khera village (Nalagarh Facility), we planted 200 trees on World Environment Day, besides 56 herbal trees in the government school. This year we also supported the ‘Million tree’ campaign and planted 600+ trees in Gurgaon.

We work towards protecting the environment through various green initiatives, ranging from water conservation, energy conservation to minimizing industrial pollution at our manufacturing plant. Our heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) and chiller systems operate on non-CFC gases that minimize the depletion of ozone layer and help protect the environment.
