Fluoroquinolone Antibacterial
Composition : Each ml contains
1. Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride USP equivalent
to Ciprofloxacin 3mg
Pharmacology : Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone,
and like other members of its class, it inhibits
bacterial enzymes, DNA gyrase and DNA ligase.
These enzymes are essential in the replication
of bacterial DNA, without which protein synthesis
comes to a halt. Inhibition of protein synthesis
leads to bacterial death and lysis.
Indications : Cipromed is used in -
- Acute and subacute mucopurulent conjunctivitis,
blepharitis,
- Bacterial ulcer of eyelids, bacterial keratitis,
- Bacterial corneal ulcer, kerato conjunctivitis,
- Pre-operatively for prophylaxis of infections,
- Post-operative to treat bacterial infections,
Dosage : Adults : 2 - 3
drops 2 to 3 times daily in the affected eye.
Children : Safety and efficacy of ciprofloxacin
ophthalmic solution in children less than 1 years
of age have not been demonstrated.
Contraindications : Hypersensitivity to
fluoroquinolones including nalidixic acid.
Adverse Effects : Cipromed eye drops are
well tolerated, but may cause conjunctival hyperaemia
in some patients.
Presentation : 5 ml glass & plastic
vial.
Storage : Store at a temperature upto 25oC,
protected from light. Do not freeze. Keep out
of the reach of children.
