Antibacterial
Composition : Each ml contains
1. Ciprofloxacin 3mg (0.3%)
Pharmacology : Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone,
and like other members of its class, it inhibits
bacterial enzymes, DNA gyrase and DNA ligase.
These enzymes are essential in the replication
of bacterial DNA, without which protein synthesis
comes to a halt. Inhibition of protein synthesis
leads to bacterial death and lysis.
Indications : Cipromed is used in –
- Cipromed is used locally in the course of
treatment of acute or Chronic infections of
ear caused by Cipromed-sensitive microorganisms.
- Inflammation of the external auditory passage
(external otitis)
- Acute & Chronic Otitis media
- Prophylaxis of infectious otitis prior and
upon surgical interventions in case of the ear
trauma, removal of extraneous body from external
auditory passage accompanied by ear tissue injury.
Dosage : Adults : 2 - 3
drops 2 times daily in the effected ear for seven
days.
Children : Safety and efficacy of ciprofloxacin
ophthalmic solution in children less than 2 years
of age have not been established.
Contraindications : Cipromed ear drops
are contraindicated for patients having
- Sensitivity to preparation components or
to other quinolones
- Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media
- Fungal Infection in the Ear
- Tuberculosis of the Ear
- Viral Infection of the external ear canal
Adverse Effects :
Less Frequent:
Earache, Ear Redness, Erythema
Rare : Ceruminosis, Dysgeusia,
Ear Stinging, Eustachian Tube Congestion, Irritability
Presentation : 5 ml plastic vial.
Storage : Store at a temperature upto 25oC,
protected from light. Do not freeze. Keep out
of the reach of children.
